Chef's Kitchen Whole House Remodel

This home had a wonderful property and good bones, but inside it was dark, and the first thing that greeted you at the front door was the stair. The large family also needed more room to spread out, so along with a whole-house remodel, the project included an addition with a great room and an expansive primary suite.

The house is organized around four structural columns that divide it into four quadrants around a central bay. The old stair sat right in that bay, blocking the flow and limiting the potential of the entire home. Working within that structural grid, I moved the stair and reconfigured both floors, and moving the stair was a game changer. The entry now opens to a cozy library with a view through to the kitchen beyond. The original cramped kitchen was never going to work for the chef in the family, so I created room for a sprawling new kitchen and a generous pantry, made for serious cooking and gathering.

Upstairs, there is ample space for the kids and generous bathrooms, and the primary suite is tucked away from the bustle with a view of the mountains. The newly finished basement makes room for the whole family, from the music lover and the crafter to the gamers and the exercise enthusiast.

Outside, a new covered front porch with tapered columns, a standing-seam metal roof and new siding gives the home curb appeal to match the transformation inside.
