Golden Ember Salon

When the owner of Golden Ember Salon was ready to open a salon of her very own, she found a tenant space in a brand-new commercial building. It was a true blank slate: an unfinished shell with exposed framing and, where the floor would be, bare dirt.

We worked closely together on a layout for the roughly 1,200-square-foot salon. I planned a welcoming reception and waiting area with retail display, a row of styling stations, a dedicated shampoo area and a color station, plus a breakroom with laundry and an accessible restroom behind the scenes. I then prepared the permit drawings to take the space from dirt floor to opening day.

Helping a fellow business owner open the doors to a space that is truly her own is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
