Maryland Poolside Addition

This rear addition to a traditional two-story Colonial gave a busy family the kitchen and entertaining space they had been missing. It also connected the heart of their home to the pool and outdoor living areas just beyond the back door.

I opened up the back of the house to create a larger kitchen and gathering space, with views and easy access that draw everyday life outdoors. New porches front the pool for relaxing, dining and entertaining, and on the other side of the home, a screened porch offers a quieter, more private retreat.

This addition was the first project I designed on my own, for a developer client I have now worked with for nearly 30 years. What began with his family's home has grown into multifamily and commercial work together, first in Maryland and now remotely from Colorado.
