Split-Level Kitchen & Attic Retreat

This split-level home had a closed-off first floor and an attic that was being used only as unfinished storage. The homeowners wanted a brighter, more open main level and more room to live, all within the home's existing footprint.

I opened up the first floor by removing walls between the living room, foyer and old kitchen. This made room for a new kitchen and family dining area, with a sliding glass door to the backyard. Upstairs, I added new dormers to turn the unusable attic into a bright retreat, adding nearly 500 square feet of living space. Outside, a new covered front porch with steps down to the driveway, new windows and a small roof over the garage doors give the home a fresh, welcoming face.
